Kurralea ram hits $28,000

A POLL Dorset ram has made $28,000 at the Prentice family’s Kurralea ram sale at Ariah Park today.

The ram, which was grand champion Poll Dorset ram at Adelaide Royal, was lot one in the offering and quickly sent bidding spiralling north.

Two interstate buyers teamed up to produce the winning bid of $28,000, in a partnership comprising Clayton Rowett, Ulandi Park Poll Dorsets, Marrabel, South Australia, and Grant and Bryce Hausler, Janmac, Goroke, Victoria. Kurralea will retain a semen share in the ram.

The April-drop ram was one of 14 sons in the sale by Ulandi Park sire, UP 185-08 – the supreme champion ram at Melbourne Royal in 2009.

The $28,000 earner buoyed the average of Kurralea’s 33 Poll Dorset stud rams to $3017 with selling of its White Suffolk rams now underway.
